NiceDay blog: Live by your own standard

The moment you have enough resources to survive, you get the chance to choose what you want to do in life. You gain the freedom to be able to make different choices. Not only can you choose what to buy or what to invest in, but also how you want to live. You can live by your own standard. The internet is one of the means that makes it possible to have an increasing impact on the world around you. It has never been easier to spread an idea, make a video or surround yourself with like-minded people.

What do you want to mean for whom?

The big “normal” no longer exists. There are many different ways to give substance to your life and there is no standard that you have to meet. It’s more about finding a “good match” than doing “something good.”

For example, selling ice at the North Pole doesn’t seem promising, but selling ice in the desert may offer much more perspective. So it’s not just about what you do, but in specific who you do it for. Do you want to do something that is according to other people’s norm, or do you want to do something that makes you happy? What gives you energy? What are your qualities? What value do you want to add and what can you add? Who do you feel at home with and who would you like to be of service to?

Feel free to do whatever suits you. Give yourself the freedom to try and test this. Just because you can and because that’s what you want. Try to enjoy doing it and don’t let the result put you off. People sometimes achieve “good results” with clumsy actions, and good actions do not have to lead to “results”.

Take action!

Taking action is simply taking the next step over and over again. Take the time to see what happens, and then choose which direction you will give to what arises. Leave the “normal” and choose a standard that suits you and that makes you feel good.
