By exposing yourself to your fear (exposure) and working on that, the tension, anxiety and associated complaints will decrease. Your avoidance and safety behaviour will also decrease. Through exposure, you will learn to think more realistically and to experience the physical sensations.

Exposure is a behavioural therapy technique with which you enter scary and anxiety-inducing situations, instead of avoiding them. By exposing yourself to anxiety-inducing situations and carrying out corresponding tasks, you will learn to overcome the anxiety. The assignments are aimed at remaining in the scary situations for a longer period of time. This can be a situation that creates a little tension or one that creates a lot of tension. You will notice that your anxiety will decrease as the treatment progresses, until you are barely or no longer anxious.
